An exchange student is someone who travels to another country for schooling, as well as to learn about the history and culture of the new country they are in.

Studying abroad is a great experience for anyone. It helps exchange students learn about new cultures and gain global awareness. Studying abroad can also help give you an advantage when entering the job market.

We currently offer study abroad programs in the following countries:

If you wish to study abroad in a country that is not listed, please submit a request and indicate which country you would like to study in.

Yes, students who study abroad must have studied the native language for at least one year.

We offer a variety of different length programs ranging from four weeks, up to a full academic year.

You will be living with one of our volunteer host families. Everyone must pass a background check as well as a home inspection.

The following is included in all of our study abroad programs:

  • 24/7 local support
  • Progress reports for parents
  • Full room and board
  • Medical insurance

The following items are not included in our study abroad programs:

  • Flights, passports and visa
  • Additional excursions
  • Personal spending

Our high school programs typically start in September or January, with enrollment deadlines 4-5 months prior to the start date.

The cultural programs have continuous enrollment and the deadline is 60 days prior to your start date.

ISE currently offers scholarships to students of our host families. We see the importance of experiencing a new culture and want to thank our host families for volunteering.
